New 2 BBL Fermenter

We have just added our new 80 gallon fermenter from Stout Tanks and Kettles. We will be brewing about 50 gallons of our English Ale on Saturday to try out our new addition. You can see on the right the old 40 gallon mini brew tanks that will be forced into retirement.

  2. At present we are located in the basement so room temp control is ok for most of the year. I can get the temp into the fermenter low because we have an industrial plate and frame chiller. Getting it in on the lower end lets me keep it in the range for the yeast (mostly 1056 Ame. Ale). The temp does rise since it is almost 55 gallons and it does produce heat but a basement in CT will stay cool. I have a small portable air conditioner which I will use once it starts to get warmer. We will pump it into the fermenter then put up a temporary wall and cool it. This will be our first summer with this fermenter so I will be able to monitor the temp closer than the previous fermenter.

  3. I am wondering how you cool the fermenter to drop all of the yeast out for collection
